Lucian Shifren, Co-founder and VP of Research

        Lucian is a device physics researcher focusing on new materials, devices and industry/academic/government collaborations needed for the post-Moore era. He earned a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University where he authored the first Quantum Ensemble Monte Carlo and was the inaugural winner of the Palais award for outstanding graduating PhD. He also holds an MBA from Portland State University.

        Most recently, as a Distinguished Engineer in Arm Research, he was responsible for starting and running the materials and device research group which brought Symetrix and Arm together. While at Arm he was the fastest employee to reach both 25 and 50 awarded patents. In collaboration with Arizona State University, Lucian worked to release ASAP7, the first ever advanced node commercial quality academic PDK ensuring universities can engage with industry with their cutting-edge research.

        Previously at Intel he was a member of the teams that commercialized stress, high-k metal gate and finfet and discovered and authored the first ever paper on the origins of PMOS stress mobility gain. After Intel Lucian joined his first startup, SuVolta, where he was Sr. Director of Technology and successfully developed and transferred low-power transistor process technology to Fujitsu while also building the technology group from 4 to 20+ engineers.

        He has published over 40 articles and has over 100 patents issued.
